Hills is an intimate family owned, independent department store with a reputation for bringing together a collection of famous brands and products in the beautiful market town of Spalding.
We pride ourselves on being different and offering an individual look for all our customers.
We’re different
Hills is a family owned department store which has involved 3 generations of the owning family since the 1950’s.
One of a small number of independent department stores; Hills really does offer a refreshing change from the limited choice of a typical high street.
Different because we carry brands not typically seen in small market towns.
Different because the owners still work in the business putting customers first.
Different because the department store prides itself in stocking a width and depth of products many stores simply don’t bother with but customers still have a need for.
"All very nice but that makes things expensive" - well on our own we would struggle to offer competitive prices alongside quality and service - but Hills are part of the largest department store buying group in the country; Associated Independent Stores. As part of AIS we can group together with other stores all over the UK and Ireland sourcing great products at fantastic prices.
Even the store looks different - The present store is made up of the main entrance building - the oldest part of the shop, the front section of the store which was a hotel in former years, the rear addition with frontage onto to the River Welland and the “Buttermarket” - now used as the stores’ goods-in area. Though a mixture of buildings and architectural styles, the interior of the store is that of an up to date retail property.
